About the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation

The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corp. (the Trust) is an independent nonprofit organization founded in June 1999 with a vision that each child “is given every opportunity to develop and grow into a healthy, caring and productive adult.” The Trust was created after a year-long convening of concerned stakeholders, such as parents, youth, community leaders, school officials, foundations, and federal and District government officials, all committed to improving services for children and youth in the District. The objective of the Trust is to create a sustainable network of effective programs for DC children, youth, and families that encourage their healthy development through support for quality out-of-school time programs and opportunities. To that end, the Trust disburses public and private funds through grants to 130 community organizations that provide these direct services. Since its creation, the Trust has raised and leveraged more than $100 million in public and private funds.
